I am thrilled to give my wholehearted recommendation for Inge Kjemtrup as a candidate for the position of International Secretary at Democrats Abroad. I can think of no one more uniquely qualified for this role.
Inge has been a source of insight and inspiration during my time as International Secretary. She’s offered honest feedback when I stumbled and was a fantastic partner in developing ideas, often starting from opposing views and ending in thoughtful compromise.
The Secretary’s tasks are only meaningful when tied to a clear purpose. Inge has led DAUK through unprecedented growth, is a GOTV expert, and heads the global Defending Democracy Initiative. This experience in the organization will allow her to coordinate these myriad tasks with an eye to purpose and support, without creating extra bureaucracy for our time-strapped volunteers.
Inge combines intellectual rigor with emotional intelligence and excels at navigating complex group dynamics with nuance and integrity. Whether coordinating global teams or handling routine tasks like meeting minutes, she leads with clarity, fostering inclusive collaboration.
Her strengths—active listening, insightful questioning, and deep commitment to DA—are essential for this role. She has led DAUK through unprecedented growth, is a GOTV expert, and heads the global Defending Democracy Initiative. This experience supporting volunteers at every level makes her especially effective at guiding both policy and the nuts and bolts of how to do things.
I give Inge Kjemtrup my highest recommendation for the office of International Secretary without reservation.

I first met Inge Kjemtrup when I was asked to join the Defending Democracy Initiative that was created by the DA Executive Committee following the 2024 election. One of the primary tasks of the initiative is to systemically track proposed changes to state and Federal voting legislation that may affect overseas voters, assess the implications such changes for overseas voters and the likelihood of implementation, and provide recommendations for action to DA leadership. Inge was tasked with the primary leadership role for this initiative. My involvement has been in preparing legal assessments and assembling a Legal Working Group to assist these efforts.
Through Inge’s leadership of the Defending Democracy Initiative, Inge has clearly demonstrated the following: (i) an ability to identify priority goals from a broad mandate and clearly articulate such goals and task accordingly, (ii) an extremely professional style reflected by well-prepared meetings with clear objectives and concrete achievements, and (iii) an open and friendly management style that encourages a diversity of viewpoints and inclusive collaboration.
In addition, Inge has been a long-time member of Democrats Abroad and has demonstrated a long-term commitment to the organization and a concern for our democracy that leads to action. Inge’s current (and past) involvement in DA leadership positions proves that she is well-aware of the time commitment involved in being an effective International Secretary and that her personal life allows her to dedicate the time needed to serve DA effectively as International Secretary.

It is my sincere privilege to endorse Inge Kjemtrup for International Secretary.
As DAUK’s immediate past Chair, I regularly leaned on the breadth and depth of Inge’s DPCA and DNC experience to fill my knowledge gaps and stress test new ideas. Because leaders don’t know what they don’t know, I knew Inge would give a gentle nudge when she saw a critical DAUK or DPCA deadline or requirement looming or being overlooked. One example came as we prepared for our Global Presidential Primary, where she guided DAUK’s officers on the process’s many nuances.
This same generous sharing of her wisdom permeates the whole of DAUK and DPCA. Inge is a regular presence at DAUK events in London where she lives, DAUK regional chapters further afield, and at EMEA and DPCA online monthly/weekly meetings and in-person AGMs.
As former DAUK Chair (2017-2021), DPCA Voting Rep, DPCA’s Defending Democracy Chair, and more, Inge has a proven track record of strong leadership, strategic ability to “meet the moment,” attention to detail, and the time to be successful in this officer role. Inge is a gifted communicator, serving as a DAUK press surrogate speaker throughout the 2024 election cycle.
I have every confidence in Inge to fulfil the requirements of this role. I also know she will further evolve our standing in the DNC, ensure every DPCA country committee or group (regardless of size or location) has the resources they need, and that any member who requires her assistance will be warmly supported.
